Different Data Detroit (+Stockholm)

In June 2015, Different Data (Rachele Riley, Joshua Singer, Dan McCafferty) traveled to Stockholm, Sweden to participate in the conference exhibition at NORDES 2015: Design Ecologies, held at Konstfack. We brought our experience from ‘Different Data Detroit‘ to Stockholm to realize a new iteration of the project by fusing data from the two cities and supposing unexpected connections. We created the project over the course of three days during the conference (June 7–11, 2015) on a 10 by 20 ft wall (covered with paper).

Different Data (DD) is a collaborative critical design research group, Rachele Riley, Dan McCafferty and Joshua Singer. We collect, manipulate, and display data in location-specific public environments. DD maps notions of place by revealing hidden, overlooked and silent narratives (and other aspects) of urban cultural ecologies, using unexpected and often poetic methods for generating and gathering data.
